Rolling out the red carpet

Got this a little bit ago, thought you'd find it of interest. I'll also post our next video interview, this time with Nick Williams (not Verdell Jones again) in a bit.

Big Ten Network to broadcast Hoosier Hysteria

In case you can't make it to Assembly Hall Friday night, you can catch a portion of Hoosier Hysteria live on the Big Ten Network. As part of their "Big Ten Tonight: Basketball Season Tip-Off Special," the network will televise the first official practices at five campuses around the conference: Indiana, Wisconsin (Night of the Grateful Red), Michigan State (Midnight Madness), Minnesota (Tubby's Tip-Off) and Purdue (Mackey Madness). (And no, I did not make those names up, they came in the release.) The show is 2 1/2 hours and starts at 9 p.m.

Five minutes with: Jammie Kirlew

The Hoosiers have not gotten much production from their defensive pass rush, but one of the guys who has stepped up this year is junior defensive lineman Jammie Kirlew.

Kellen Lewis questionable

Word from Bill Lynch's weekly address to the media today is that Kellen Lewis is questionable for Saturday's game at Illinois. Lewis has a high-ankle sprain and Lynch said he will be in a boot for today's practice. Q: How's Kellen doing? Lynch: Hurting.

October 14th, a day that will forever live in I(U)nfamy

Hey folks, Hate to rain on any parades you might be holding to celebrate the coming eve of Hoosier Hysteria, but I was just reminded of this and it gave me pause: It's been one year to the day that we at the IDS received a news release entitled "IU discloses new sanctions on men\0xB9s basketball staff." What followed clearly doesn't need to be rehashed, since we in the media have pretty much beaten that drum to death.

An idea to fill the Rock

Almost got to give props to Bruce Weber on this one. The coach held an outdoor practice with his Illini basketball team after their football team's Homecoming game. With a lot of talk about the Rock never being close to capacity, maybe this should have been an idea taken by Indiana.

So, now what?

Another Saturday, another loss for the Hoosiers. This time, however, it was a thrashing defeat courtesy of Iowa.

IU/Iowa Game Blog

Hawkeyes 45, IU 9 FINAL (End of 3rd Quarter) - The scoreboard just showed a shot of a young Hoosier fan napping as the quarter came to a close.

Cream and Crimson, day 2

Due to rain, Zach's and my managerial debuts were bumped back a day. But as expected we dominated, taking the reigns of the Cream squad and leading them to a 6-2 win over the Crimson.

White Out: DJ to have surgery, might miss season

DJ White's rookie season has just been put on hold. The former Hoosier will undergo jaw surgery next week to remove a benign growth and will miss four to six months following the surgery, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced today. Doctors will take a bone graft from White's hip to mend the bone in his jaw, the press release said.

Doyel: 'Indiana has already been through enough'

CBSSports.com national columnist Gregg Doyel has weighed in on the Hoosiers in his latest column. He is essentially pleading to the NCAA to let Crean and his newly inherited basketball program go free of further damage. "Show mercy to the innocents left behind at Indiana," Doyel writes. Other than saying that Taber "never actually plays" and that the program isn't going anywhere for a "long, long time," Hoosier fans likely will agree with Doyel and his article...not that Doyel has an actual say in the matter. What do you think?
