Hawkeyes 45, IU 9 FINAL

(End of 3rd Quarter) - The scoreboard just showed a shot of a young Hoosier fan napping as the quarter came to a close. With the way IU played to start the second half, it's hard to blame him.

Without Kellen Lewis, IU could not move the football and gave up two touchdowns in the process. On the one drive that showed life for the Hoosiers, they failed to convert on fourth and one from the Iowa 14-yard line.

It has been that kind of a day for IU - the fourth such day in as many weeks. With only a quarter to play and down 22 points, it looks as if the Hoosiers will fall to 2-4 unless something dramatic happens in the fourth quarter.

(11:21, 3rd Quarter) - It seems as if the wheels are coming off for IU football in 2008.

The Hawkeyes seamlessly marched down the field for their third touchdown of the day to take a commanding 24-9 lead in the third quarter. IU seemed to have regained momentum at the end of the first half when they scored their first touchdown, but a three-and-out to begin the half and a 34-yard touchdown pass from Richard Stanzi have put a damper on IU's day.

The Hoosiers have not fared well while playing from behind this year, so it will be interesting to see how they respond.

Updating a previous post, Kellen Lewis is on the bench with a lower leg injury.

(13:50, 3rd Quarter) - IU starts the second half with a quick three-and-out but with sophomore quarterback Ben Chappell under center. Kelen Lewis is walking around the sidelines limping and his status is unknown. We will keep you updated on his condition.

(Halftime) - For the first time all day, the IU offense has shown life.

Kellen Lewis successfully worked the two minute drill, starting from the IU 11-yard line and scoring the Hoosiers' first touchdown of the day. Lewis connected to junior wide receiver Ray Fisher in the left corner of the end zone to bring IU within one score. Austin Starr missed the extra point, though, the first time he has done so all year.

IU will receive the ball to start the second half.

(11:08, 2nd Quarter) - The IU defense is having all kinds of trouble against the Hawkeyes. Iowa running back Shonn Greene is pounding the Hoosiers, rushing for 45 yards on eight carries. Capping off Iowa's last drive, Greene ran through a gap in line and scampered through 12 yards of daylight, untouched, for the touchdown.

(2:43, 1st Quarter) A three-and-out for IU leads to strong field position for the Hawkeyes. Starting on the Hoosier 39-yard line, Iowa easily drove the rest of the length of the field for the first touchdown of the day.

On the ensuing possession, IU drove all the way to the Iowa 29-yard line before falling just shy of a first down. Austin Starr, however, came right in and booted a 46-yard field goal - his longest of the year.

Hawkeyes 3, IU 0 (11:16, 1st Quarter) - Kellen Lewis was intercepted on the Hoosiers' third play of the game after his pass was deflected at the line of scrimmage. The Hoosiers defense stood tough though, stopping Iowa on a three-and-out. However, the IU secondary dropped two sure interceptions in the end zone and Iowa booted a field goal through the uprights.

First Quarter, 15:00

IU wins the coin toss and defers.

Hi all, welcome to Memorial Stadium on a beautiful Saturday afternoon to watch the Hoosiers take on the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The players are on the field going through warmups and, surprise, few fans are in the stadium at present. A bright spot for IU, though, is that sophomore safety Jerimy Finch is dressed and participating in warmups. Finch missed the Hoosiers' last game in Minnesota with a leg injury.

We will continue to bring you updates on Under the Rock, so if you guys have any questions, comments or concerns, holler at us in a post and we'll get right back to you.
