Stripe Out: Illinois at IU this Sunday

IU Athletics will see your White Out and raise you one. On Sunday, the Hoosiers will attempt to "Stripe Out" Assembly Hall when they host the Fighting Illini at 1 p.m. In other words, the Hoosiers hope fans in attendance will wear cream or crimson to the game, depending on which color they are assigned based on their seat location.

IU recruit nets 52 points

Don't skip class on Feb. 19 or 25 ...

... or don't go to the IU basketball games either of those nights. Chances are, if you have a professor new to IU, they'll be there. The latest IU Athletics promotion invites faculty and staff new to IU this year to either the Feb.

Andrea McGuirt feature

We have a feature article about sophomore guard Andrea McGuirt in the paper today. Here is a piece of it. Sophomore Andrea McGuirt embodies the definition of a student-athlete. McGuirt, a guard on the women's basketball team, is a student in the Kelley School of Business and has a 3.9 GPA. In case you don't have the opportunity to pick up an IDS today you ran read about McGuirt online. The Hoosiers are back in action on Thursday against the Big Ten number two Michigan State.

Big Ten to broadcast four IU baseball games

Hi all, For the second consecutive season the Big Ten Network will broadcast an IU baseball contest as part of its spring sports coverage. The channel is set to show four Hoosier games: IU's April 11 and 12 matchups at Iowa and May 9 and 10 ballgames at home against Northwestern.

Recruiting roundup: McD's All-America nominees, Capo, Creek, Zeller

All six members of the Class of 2009 are McDonald's All-America nominees. Here is the full list of the hundreds of boys and girls high school standouts nominated. I just read through a press release sent to The Cincinnati Enquirer about the local area nominees from the Greater Cincinnati area, including Bobby Capobianco.

Dumes: "I never mean to hurt anyone"

Tom Crean and the recently suspended Devan Dumes met with the media Monday before flying to Minnesota for Tuesday's game against the Gophers. Dumes reiterated his apology, and insisted that he never meant to injure the opposition. "I never mean to hurt anyone if I'm swinging an elbow or anything," Dumes said.

IU baseball to be broadcast on Hoosier Country 105

The IU Hoosier baseball team has partnered WHCC 105.1FM for live broadcasts during the 2009 season. Each Friday this spring, the network will give listeners "Hoosier Baseball Friday in Bloomington." The program will provide live play-by-play coverage for five games this season--Georgia Southern, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Purdue.

Strength of schedule went up . . . just a bit

IU Athletics announced that the University of Virginia will be added to the IU football team's 2009 and 2010 schedules, a home-and-home series. The release said IU and UVA will meet next season in Charlottesville, Va., on October 10.

With the loss yesterday to Illinois, the Indiana women's basketball team now how lost four of their last five dropping them to 15-7, 8-5, which places them alone in fifth place in the conference.

No Coach at Coaches

Sorry about this, but i just got an e-mail from Shana Daniels the media relations person for the women's basketball team and it appears Coach Jack will not be doing her radio show at Coaches Bar and Grill tonight. Due to the men's team traveling (They have a game tomorrow in Minnesota) the show will be pre-recorded and played from 6:30-7 on the IU Radio Network-105.1 FM Sorry again for those of you like me that wanted to enjoy some food and basketball talk at Coaches tonight. Hoosiers are back in action on Thursday at home against Michigan State.

Dumes suspended indefinitely

UPDATE: Big Ten "concurs" with IU's action, will make no further response. The conference agreed with Crean's punishment, and will not take further action against Dumes. Release: Park Ridge, Ill.
