Live blog: Wisconsin 85, IU 61 (Final)

MADISON, Wis. - The clock ran out on the Hoosiers' 1-17 conference season Sunday. There would no fairytale ending to IU's Big Ten season nor would there be for IU coach Tom Crean's sideline return to the state he coached in for nine years. IU (6-24, 1-17) lost 85-61 to the Badgers Sunday, marking the team's 20th loss in 21 games and its ninth straight headed into the Big Ten Tournament. Crean said his team battled hard and continued to show improvement, but lamented, "We just don't have a lot of positive results to show for it." The loss also mared the first season the Hoosiers have failed to win a road game since 1900, the program's inaugural year in which they played only five games. For the fifth time this season, IU was forced to play most of the game without its leading scorer, junior guard Devan Dumes, who sat our after re-aggravating a knee injury last Tuesday. In his absence, freshmen guards Verdell Jones (23) and Nick Williams (19) filled the void, both finishing with career-high point totals in the losing effort.

Crean: Dumes out vs. Wisconsin

Via media relations director J.D. Campbell: Indiana men's basketball coach Tom Crean has announced that junior guard Devan Dumes will not play Sunday when the Hoosiers visit Wisconsin in the final regular season game. The team's leading scorer at 12.7 points per game reaggravated an old knee injury against Michigan State and played just three minutes against the Spartans. "We will continue to monitor his progress," said Crean.

Coach Jack at Conseco...still

Although the Hoosiers aren't in contention for the Big Ten Tournament Title after their loss to Purdue IU Coach Felisha Legette-Jack is still in the building. My friend and IU sports columnist Dave Leno just spotted Coach Jack along side her assistant coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson, a few rows up behind the basket as they take in the first of two games today.

Hey folks, Like many in our profession, I've become overnight-addicted to the Twitter phenomenon that I didn't understand until I started using it and now can't get away from.

Jack spending time with future Hoosiers

During the recent stretch between the Hoosiers game against Ohio State and final regular-season home against Michigan IU coach Felisha Legette-Jack spent some time traveling to games of future Hoosiers. Legette-Jack went to see Sasha Bernard in Florida where her team had made the semi-finals of the state tournament for the first time in the history of the program.

Bawa!

Hey folks, I was meandering along last night, waiting for the game to begin inside Assembly Hall, when a colleague pointed out to me a head rising above all the rest in the Assembly Hall stands. 'Twas Bawa. Yes, 7-foot center Bawa Muniru, the tallest of six recruits coming to IU next year, was inside the Hall (forgive me, Alex, Eamonn and Ryan), taking in his first in-person IU home game.

Taber delivers his final farwell

His grin filled Assembly Hall like $5 balcony seats. The fifth-year senior who's had a front row seat to the rise and fall of IU basketball clutched a microphone in his right hand.
