Hey folks,
I was meandering along last night, waiting for the game to begin inside Assembly Hall, when a colleague pointed out to me a head rising above all the rest in the Assembly Hall stands.
'Twas Bawa.
Yes, 7-foot center Bawa Muniru, the tallest of six recruits coming to IU next year, was inside the Hall (forgive me, Alex, Eamonn and Ryan), taking in his first in-person IU home game. Muniru, polite as could be and incredibly excited to be where he was, graciously accepted an interview request from myself and H-T reporter Jared Poertner.
Clicking here will take you to the short story I've written from that interview, which covers mostly Muniru's excitement in coming to IU. He also briefly addresses his academic situation (Muniru's in prep school right now) with optimism.
"I hope everything goes well and as time goes on, when I get my things done at school, I can't wait to come and get it started," Muniru said.
This is the first one-on-one look many have had of Muniru, who's been something of a mystery since his commitment. If you have a Peegs account, the good folks over there have posted some video highlights recently. I point the interested among you to that.
So what are your expectations of Muniru? He's been labeled a "project," but from what I've seen and heard, is still farther along than, say, Tijan Jobe in terms of readiness for the college game. Let us know what you think.
