In a prelude to the upcoming celebration of the IU Opera Theater’s 60th anniversary, Bloomington resident and Indiana University alumnus Eric Anderson, Jr. will present Kurt Weill and Arnold Sundgaard’s one-act opera “Down in the Valley”.
The story of an escaped convict and the girl he loves, “Down in the Valley” was the IU Opera Theater’s first ever world premiere, and second-ever production. July 15 marks the 60th anniversary of the opera, which opened in 1948.
The performance will take place at 7:30 p.m., July 15 in the John Waldron Arts Center Auditorium. Admission is free and seating is open.
