Humble Brewer ignores critics at NFL Draft Combine

James Brewer earned praise when he reportedly dominated the competition at the Senior Bowl last month. Sports Illustrated said he “established himself as the best blocker at the event.” Now he is in Indianapolis for the NFL Draft Combine.

Oscar showing to unite film lovers

There might not be a red carpet lining the halls of the Indiana Memorial Union, but Sunday, students will gather to celebrate and watch what senior Eric Van Gucht calls the Super Bowl of the film industry. Union Board will be sponsoring its second Oscar Party to celebrate the 83rd annual Academy Awards at 7 p.m. in the Whittenberger Auditorium.

Fly Painted Feathers to support Native’s pre-tour Bishop show

Fly Painted Feathers’ lead singer Harlan Kelly said he and drummer Daniel Versweyveld have been Native fans since they saw Native play a show with another band from their hometown of Madison, Ind. Kelly said the band has been one of their largest influences as musicians and it was always their dream to play with them someday. That “someday” is Sunday.

The Indiana House of Representatives was scheduled to meet Tuesday to vote to pass House Bill 1468, better known as right-to-work legislation. But Indiana House Democrats didn’t come in to work Tuesday. Many left the state.

Wednesday was the third-straight day of protests at the Statehouse. The debate centered around House Bill 1468, which would prohibit employers from requiring their employees to join unions as a condition of employment.

Yu pleads guilty to sexual battery, confinement

Last March, former student Hai “Howie” Yu was charged with raping a female student and dragging her half-naked body out of the Foster Residence Center. On Wednesday, the rape charges were dropped and he pleaded guilty to reduced charges of sexual battery and criminal confinement.

Hoosiers post best single-round total in 13th place finish

After going into the final 18 holes of competition Tuesday in the Central District Invitational in 13th place, the IU women’s golf team held suit and defended its position, finishing 13th with a final round score of 299, the team’s best single-round total this spring.
