Senior IU wrestler Matt Powless

One last shot: Wrestler goes for NCAA title in final season

·

Senior Matt Powless has been wrestling since he was six years old. This year, Powless will put everything on the line one last time in hopes of winning an NCAA title.Powless started wrestling when he was in first grade with every intention of becoming a WWE star. “I was ready to be the next Stone Cold Steve Austin,” Powless said.It didn’t take long for him to realize that wrestling at school wasn’t the same as wrestling for the WWE.

Hoosiers prepare for Big Ten elite Buckeyes

·

The women’s basketball team is looking to do Thursday what the men’s team did on New Year’s Eve: knock off a highly ranked Ohio State squad in Assembly Hall. Such an upset would be the Hoosiers’ first Big Ten victory of the season, as they are 0-7 in conference play and 5-15 overall.

Hoosiers go winless against foe Kentucky

·

As the adage goes, a picture doesn’t always tell the whole story. A Polaroid of the lopsided final scoreline of Tuesday’s men’s tennis showdown between No. 29 Indiana and No. 7 Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., would reveal the Hoosiers failed to record a single point, dropping the contest by a score of 7-0.

Column: Three cheers for these athletes

·

At every basketball game, football game or athletic promotional event, there is something constant: the cheerleaders. The cheerleaders dressed in red and white — a staple at a school with no mascot — are now National Champions, as well. On Jan. 14, the Crimson all-female squad won the UCA College National Championship. That’s right. IU has a National Championship team on the campus again, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say many people didn’t even notice.

While the Hoosier men’s distance squad is on the receiving end of national attention and publicity, it was the women’s distance runners who performed well this past weekend during the Gladstein Invitational at Gladstein Fieldhouse.
