Indiana University sophomore rower Asja Zero was named a 2012 Pocock Second Team All-American on June 4.
The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, an organization that serves to unite, promote and advise female rowers, gave Zero this award for her outstanding performance as a rower and coxswain at the national level, according to the website.
“I am very excited for Asja to receive this honor,” said IU Coach Steve Peterson in a press release. “She has truly earned this honor through her hard work, dedication, and commitment to being the best athlete she can be.”
Zero is the third All-American in IU rowing history and was one of nine Big Ten rowers honored.
She joins alumna Laura Lazaridis and senior Ellie Benson on Indiana’s All-American list.
“Although this is often described as the ultimate team sport, it takes 100 percent effort from all of the individuals on the team to be successful,” Peterson said in a release. “Since Asja’s arrival in Bloomington two years ago, we have achieved unprecedented success here at IU, and I believe a great deal of it can be traced directly back to the impact she has had on this whole team."
Zero has also been nominated as a two-time First Team All-Big Ten pick.
