Olympian Jones to compete at IU

IU track and field announced Thursday afternoon that Lolo Jones will compete at the Billy Hayes Track at 7 p.m. May 2.

Monette named to Second Team All-Big Ten

First and Second All-Big Ten teams were announced Thursday at the Big Ten Tournament banquet. IU sophomore Samuel Monette was IU’s only player on either team, making Second Team All-Big Ten.

No. 67 IU begins its quest for the NCAA Tournament against No. 55 Minnesota on Thursday. IU lost 4-3 against Minnesota earlier this season in Bloomington.

After getting swept in a road series against Northwestern Wednesday, the IU softball team (13-33-1, 4-13 conference) is looking to get back into the win column with a midweek showdown against the Louisville Cardinals (28-17, 9-6 conference).

Senior Joey DeNato won Big Ten Pitcher of the Week after setting another IU pitching record in his start against Michigan State last Friday.

Ski Club women learn to race, form bike team

It isn’t uncommon for groups on campus to half-heartedly discuss forming Little 500 teams. Unlike many of the failed start-up teams, when IU Ski and Snowboard Club began tossing around the idea of forming a team, they followed through.

Thomas Larson knows what it’s like to fall off the bike. The 24-year-old Delta Upsilon rider has fallen down in more than just a bike race. His most adverse falls have sent him to various hospital beds around the Midwest.
