Professors receive Fulbrights

Three IU professors have been awarded Fulbright grants to lecture abroad. Professor of education Charles Allen Swanson Bankart was awarded a grant to go to Korea, business administration professor Robert Klemkosky will go to Croatia and linguistics professor Steven Franks will travel to Italy. Franks said he is excited about his trip.

Hoosiers win 10th title

The drama continued for the men's soccer team in the championship match of the Big Ten Tournament Sunday. Top-seeded IU outlasted No. 6 seed Penn State on penalty kicks, 4-1, in the championship of the Big Ten Tournament at Armstrong Stadium.

Yeagley, players win Big Ten awards

Once again IU men's soccer team dominated the Big Ten annual awards led by coach Jerry Yeagley, who took home his eighth Big Ten Coach of the Year award. The unanimous decision was the legendary coach's third consecutive honor.

IU seeks to end losing streak in Midwest

The IU volleyball team hits the road this weekend for a pair of Big Ten matches against Iowa and Minnesota. The Hoosiers head west still searching for that elusive first road victory. Last weekend the Hoosiers (10-15, 3-11 Big Ten) fell to then-No. 17 Penn State before dispatching Ohio State in four games at home, halting their losing streak at 11 matches.

Hoosiers to finish up fall season in Michigan

The fall season for the Hoosiers comes to a close this weekend as the Hoosiers will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to participate in the Big Ten Singles Championships Saturday through Monday at the Varsity Tennis Center on the campus of University of Michigan.

When IU and Penn State square off Saturday at Beaver Stadium, two teams with identical 2-8 records will meet. While records indicate a competitive match-up, oddsmakers have placed PSU as a 19-point favorite over the Hoosiers, according to sportsinteraction.com.

Quest for crown begins

The IU men's soccer program has been notorious for producing champion-caliber teams and it will get a shot at earning another Big Ten title this weekend. Fresh off their conference regular season title, the top-seeded Hoosiers play the No. 5 seed Wisconsin today at 5 p.m. at Armstrong Stadium in their quest for their 10th tournament championship. IU has a 18-3 all-time record in conference tournament games, including a flawless 3-0 mark versus the Badgers. To date, the Hoosiers (11-3-4, 5-0-1 Big Ten) have won nine consecutive games. IU's last lost was Sept. 18 to Notre Dame, 1-0 in double-overtime in South Bend and their last tie was Oct. 2. But coach Jerry Yeagley has his players' eyes focused on Wisconsin, which defeated Ohio State, 2-0 in the opening round of the Big Ten tournament Thursday.

Howard Dean had previously sworn to go after any Democrat who chose to opt out of the public campaign financing system. The funny thing is if Dean really did choose to go after the first Democrat to opt out of the system, he'd hold a press conference during which he'd chase his own tail.
