Twenty-one years after the first dance marathon, some students who received medical attention from the Riley Hospital for Children now participate as dancers. Matt Parmenter, a freshman in Phi Gamma Delta who raised more money than any other dancer, is a Riley kid.

Women’s golf heads to last fall event

IU will be among 13 teams, including Texas Tech, Michigan and Xavier. Onion Creek is a par-70 course that had the first Senior PGA Tour event in 1978 and the LPGA Tour Event from 1999 to 2001.

Defense makes strides in 34-20 loss to No. 16 Ohio St.

After Ohio State’s true freshman quarterback, Braxton Miller, put the Buckeyes on the board with the longest quarterback run in OSU history — 81 yards — the difference between the teams was never more than seven points until the final minutes. IU Coach Kevin Wilson said he wasn’t surprised at how close the game was, despite the 27.5-point spread.

Bbehind the sophomore forward Will Sheehey's subdued demeanor is a blossoming talent that led all IU scorers with 18 points in the Hoosiers’ 90-72 exhibition win against the University of Indianapolis.

Offensive outburst propels IU

The Hoosiers won their first and only exhibition game, defeating the University of Indianapolis, 90-72, Saturday  at Assembly Hall. IU was aided by a 50-point outburst in the first half, that allowed IU a double-digit lead the entire second half.

Pow Wow marks start of national heritage month

Traditional Native American attire, clothing and food were part of the event at the Neal-Marshall Black Culture Center, which was also the kick-off event for National American Indian Heritage Month at IU. The University has not hosted the pow wow since 2004.

The Virtu Project, an organization founded in 2006 by students in the Liberal Arts and Management Program, creates and manages philanthropic investments to raise funds for the non-profit Timmy Global Health.

IU graduate receives 2012 state ‘Teacher of the Year’ recognition

Melanie Park, a reading remediation teacher at Riverview Middle School in Huntington, Ind., has been named Indiana’s 2012 Teacher of the Year. Park, who attended IU’s School of Education, became the second consecutive IU graduate to win this award.
