Hoosiers go winless against foe Kentucky

As the adage goes, a picture doesn’t always tell the whole story. A Polaroid of the lopsided final scoreline of Tuesday’s men’s tennis showdown between No. 29 Indiana and No. 7 Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., would reveal the Hoosiers failed to record a single point, dropping the contest by a score of 7-0.

Indiana student loan debt hits top 8 states

The average student in Indiana graduates with $27,000 in debt, compared to $25,250 nationally. The state has the eighth-highest average debt in the country, and 62 percent of recent graduates had debt.

At every basketball game, football game or athletic promotional event, there is something constant: the cheerleaders. The cheerleaders dressed in red and white — a staple at a school with no mascot — are now National Champions, as well. On Jan. 14, the Crimson all-female squad won the UCA College National Championship. That’s right. IU has a National Championship team on the campus again, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say many people didn’t even notice.

Students learn how to live ‘big’ with competition

Five IU students are competing for a $1,000 scholarship in the Big Ten Network’s Live Big scholarship competition. The competition, which opened in November, required students from each of the 12 schools in the Big Ten conference to submit an essay outlining their service contributions of at least 10 hours.

Open letter to Neil Patrick Harris

On Monday, Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, D-Wash., announced her support for a bill that would allow gay couples to marry in the state of Washington after long dwelling in indecision. Though a vote has not yet been scheduled, if the measure passes, the state will become the seventh to pass the motion for equality in marriage, and its chances are looking up.
