MLK Committee presents "The Meeting"

At 4 p.m. Sunday in the Whittenberger Auditorium, the IU Bloomington MLK, Jr. Day Celebration Committee is honoring each man’s role in the resistance with a complimentary performance of “The Meeting.” A reception celebrating each man’s life and death will follow in the University Club.

Smith lights up Hoosiers for career high

Ohio State had four starters that were ranked in the top 100 in CBSSports.com’s Preseason Top 100 College Players. Lenzelle Smith, Jr. was not one of them. The sophomore guard — who came in averaging 5.2 points per game — scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Buckeyes past IU, 80-63 Sunday night at Value City Arena.

Hanson awarded President’s Medal

IU President Michael McRobbie presented Provost and Executive Vice President Karen Hanson with The President’s Medal for Excellence Thursday, making her the award’s 67th recipient since its creation in 1985.

The lecture hall was  jammed tight with audience members fidgeting in their chairs and late walk-ins gravitating toward the back of the room and covering the staircase–everyone trying to adjust and move about in order to obtain a better view of the speaker in front. Victor Jackovich, having graduated from IU in 1970 stood before the audience ready to speak and deliver.

Club hockey team reflects on players’ unity

IU’s club hockey team, currently 10-13, plays from October to February and has games every weekend. Jan Jas became the head coach last season, when the team switched from Division II to Division I.
