NEW YORK – Three police officers surrendered Monday to face charges in a shooting that killed an unarmed groom on his wedding day that stirred outrage around the city.

Purdue University freshman Wade Steffey died from high-voltage electrocution after accidentally entering a high-voltage room outside Owen Hall on Jan. 13, Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg said at a news conference this morning. The two-month search for the 19-year-old Bloomington native concluded when Steffey’s body was found in the room Monday afternoon. His identity was confirmed around 10 a.m. Tuesday at a news conference after the Tippecanoe County Coroner’s office completed an autopsy Monday night.

Body found on Purdue campus

An autopsy was conducted late Monday night to determine the identity of a body that was found at Purdue University earlier in the day. Investigators have not yet determined if the body is that of missing Purdue freshman Wade Steffey, 19, who disappeared Jan. 13, said Purdue spokeswoman Jeanne Norberg.

New exhibit inspired by Romanian propaganda featured at SoFA Library

More than 35 pieces of art will be on display this week in the IU Fine Arts Library Foyer. The exhibit, titled “Romania Redrawn,” features art based on old propaganda photos set out for disposal outside of the Romanian consulate in New York. Romanian artist Irina Hasnas Pascal found the photos and invited other artists to create works inspired by them.
