Win gives IU at least share of Big Ten title

Sunday was a sad day for seniors Charley Traylor, Chris Munroe and Greg Stevning, as they played their last regular-season home match on Jerry Yeagley Field. But there was no time for sulking. With their 1-0 win over Penn State, the Hoosiers officially clinched at least a share of the Big Ten regular season title. This is the 12th time IU has been crowned regular season champions.

Men finish 4th, women 9th at cross country conference championships

The weather is getting cooler, which means postseason competition is finally here for the IU men’s and women’s cross country teams. Despite a temperature of 49 degrees at race time, the men finished a sizzling fourth this weekend at the Big Ten Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

Fans looking to catch an early glimpse of the No. 15-ranked IU wrestling team are going to have to take State Road 46 east out of Bloomington, cross the Brown County line and go straight at the stop light in Nashville, Ind., then head to Brown County High School.

IU womens soccer goes on the road, loses 2 Big Ten games

With two losses on the road this weekend, the IU women’s soccer team has dropped its last three Big Ten contests in what has been the only blemish in the team’s Big Ten season. Now, with a record of 12-4-2, 5-3-1 in Big Ten play, IU coach Mick Lyon said his team will likely receive a fourth or fifth seed in the Big Ten tournament.

Amid a sea of red at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday, the IU football team took the field with the hope of upsetting Wisconsin for a sixth win. Only half of the team showed up to play.

FBI: Crime rose in Bloomington, Monroe County in 2006

Violent crime and property crime have increased throughout Bloomington and Monroe County, according to FBI data released this month. However, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the IU Police Department said the rise in numbers doesn’t mean the Bloomington area is becoming more dangerous.
