Students warned about credit debt

The 2007 College Student Health Survey, conducted by several universities in Minnesota, found one-third of surveyed students carried some debt from the prior month. The amount totaled more than $1,000 for almost 58 percent of those who carried a balance.

Professor’s fiction novel sets sail for success

In his first fictional novel, IU journalism professor Michael Robert Evans finds the spirit of youth and the sea. “68 Knots” is the story of eight teenagers who find themselves in command of a sailboat after their captain commits suicide. Over the 68 remaining days of their summer, the teens find out more about life, each other and most importantly, themselves.

New rendition of ‘A Christmas Carol’ a non-traditional treat

It would be unfair and undeserved to call the Monroe County Civic Theater’s boisterous, one-act adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” amateurish. It’s unfair because of the scant attention, publicity and money that is usually the plight of community theater, and undeserved because these actors are as committed to their artistic progress and achievement as those strutting the halls of IU’s Lee Norvelle Theater & Drama Center.

Not amused by cartoon

One of the freedoms of being an American is the freedom of speech, which I am in full support of. However, being a student at IU, the former President of the Briscoe Residence Hall and current President of the Residence Hall Association, I was stunned by the cartoon featured in the Opinion section of the Indiana Daily Student paper (published Dec. 3).
