He was transported to Monroe County Jail. • Senior Brian J. Landrum, 22, resident of East 14th Street, was arrested and transported to Monroe County Jail after he vandalized a walkway light in Peoples' Park. Estimated damage is $200.

A senior and member of the Kelley School of Business Honors Program, Hamilton worked her way through the school's marketing program in three-and-a-half years, only dropping one class and maintaining above a 3.5 every semester. It could be Tyra Banks. It could be Steven Spielberg. It could be just about anyone in the entertainment business. Every morning, the buzz of who would be coming in that day flew through the Hollywood office building. Every day is someone new, a different celebrity dropping by, perhaps to discuss another multi-million dollar contract for his or her next movie or television stunt. The agent, the behind-the-scenes negotiator of the large revenues that the entertainment industry brings in every year, is the important person these stars came to see.

Council debates fiber-optic plan

The Bloomington City Council entertained a proposal Wednesday night that would complete a fiber-optic cable loop that runs south from downtown Bloomington throughout the city. The project is known as the Bloomington Digital Underground Project.

City program starts 2 classes

The city of Bloomington is offering two new classes through the Division of Parks and Recreations' "People's University." The People's University is an adult learning program offered by the city to promote continued education in the community in a casual environment. Its goals are to promote the interactions of local business, educators and the community at large.

ENIN, West Bank -- From a West Bank army base overlooking the scene of the deadliest fighting in Israel's 13-day-old offensive, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Wednesday delivered a blunt message: Israel will not pull back until Palestinian militias are crushed. Despite his pledge to continue the offensive in the face of intense U.S. and international pressure to call it off, Sharon's defense ministry announced late Wednesday troops were pulling out of West Bank villages of Yatta, Qabatya and Samua.

Students protest RA firings

Students at Collins Living-Learning Center are protesting the recent termination of three of the center's resident assistants, following alleged violations of a verbal request to stay in the dorm during the Final Four Tournament. John Scofield band returns to the Bluebird

The John Scofield Band returned to the Bluebird for the first time in 25 years to pack the house with jazz aficionados, jam band junkies and guitarheads -- sometimes a little of all three. The crowd ranged from the Scofield worshippers shouting out requests and "John, you're a genius," to the curious people who just wanted to know what the unpredictable Scofield was up to this time.

Senior's directoral debut to premiere this weekend

One of the most unique times of the school year for IU Theatre and Drama students is the end of the department's producing season. It is the time when theater students produce, direct and act in independent projects. Students flock to work together every semester whether or not these productions are sponsored by the Department of Theatre and Drama.

Searching for the right answer

Men and women are sometimes hesitant to ask a health care provider about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) because of the fear of finding out that they might have an infection. In my practice, I\'ve heard various comments which reflect the uncertainty surrounding this topic. Some say, "Why worry, it could never happen to me! I don\'t have any symptoms, doesn\'t that mean I\'m OK? I've never really had sex before but I\'ve done other things. Do I need to be tested?" The answer is yes, if you and your partner have ever had any close contact of the genitals or oral-genital contact without the use of a condom or barrier protection. There does not need to be penile penetration or ejaculation for infection to occur; some STI transmission can occur with genital to genital skin contact and oral-genital contact.

Electrical fire disrupts class

An electrical fire on the third floor of Jordan Hall yesterday forced students and faculty out of the building, delaying classes for nearly half an hour. Bloomington police and fire units responded to the scene shortly after 1 p.m. Students in the Strome/Saxton lab on the third floor entered the cold room across the hall and detected smoke coming from the room, according to Stephen Todd, director of facilities and laboratory services for the biology department.

Alcohol policy still under scrutiny

Alcohol use on college campuses is under national scrutiny again since the Tuesday release of a study that reports 1,400 alcohol-related deaths on college campuses each year. The report issued by the Harvard School of Public Health recommends campuses and communities collaborate to curb underage drinking -- something IU is already working to achieve.
