Vincennes guard set to sign with IU

After a visit to IU, Vincennes University sophomore Devan Dumes has made up his mind. On Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., the 6-foot-2 guard will sign his letter of intent to play for IU at the Wheeler-Dowe Boys and Girls Club in Indianapolis.

Students react to Indiana earthquake

While people as far south as Atlanta felt Friday's earthquake, some at IU did not even stir when the 5.2 magnitude quake hit at 5:30 a.m. Others first thought the motion was because of laundry or construction.

Miss Gay IU crowned at IU Auditorium

Drag queen contestants performed a variety of pageant activities Friday night at the IU Auditorium in hopes of attaining the Miss Gay IU title. Contestants’ musical performances ranged from Britney Spears to Avenue Q. The pageant winner and new Miss Gay IU is Britney Taylor.

Defense secures 1-0 victory

The grandstands were still in place from the previous weekend’s bike race, but the brisk wind and spotty rain kept the stands nearly empty. The weather could not stop the Hoosiers, though, as they pulled out a tough 1-0 victory over Virginia Tech in their sixth spring season match.

IU suffers 4-game sweep by Nittany Lions

A four-game sweep certainly could not have been what the IU baseball team envisioned when it headed to Penn State looking to break a five-game losing streak. But the bad became worse for the Hoosiers as the Nittany Lions sank IU (15-22, 4-12) further into the Big Ten cellar.

At the conclusion of the annual Cream & Crimson spring game, players from both the offensive and defensive teams mingled with former football players, fans and each other on the field.

Pizza Mania raises $4,000

A small mountain of pizza rested on a paper plate with five slices piled on top of each other and three breadsticks surrounding the slices. The girl carrying this feast seemed unaware of it, as she was surrounded by peers with similar dishes Friday at IU’s second annual Pizza Mania.

Campus event keeps ‘a child alive’

Cornhole and volunteering formed a perfect match Saturday at Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union. The Lutheran Campus Ministry at IU held its second annual Campus Cornhole Championship, raising $1,500 for Keep a Child Alive. Keep a Child Alive raises money to combat AIDS in Africa.

Students race rubber ducks for a wish

Bright yellow and orange balloons, games and rubber duck racing took over Dunn Meadow on Sunday. Alpha Phi Omega’s 18th annual Rubber Duck Regatta brought Bloomington residents together, providing free family fun for a good cause.
