Dunn Meadow Cafe celebrates with grand opening

With a coat of light yellow paint, an aluminum ceiling and a revamped menu, Kiva transformed into Dunn Meadow Cafe. Although the cafe in the Indiana Memorial Union has been open since Feb. 1, it will have its grand opening today from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The return of freshman forward Sasha Chaplin was not enough for the IU women’s basketball team. Foul trouble plagued Chaplin and the Hoosiers (13-12, 6-8) in a 66-58 road loss to Wisconsin on Sunday.

$1M Kelley gift to finance tech, facility upgrade

With a $1 million gift from 3M Co., the IU Kelley School of Business is expecting a major upgrade in its physical facilities by creating a professional sales and communications lab for students.

Nursing programs can’t fulfill demand

Admission to nursing school, denied.  With a 3.8 grade-point average, volunteer work and multiple shadowing experiences under her belt, Allyson Rene had good reason to be confident that she would be accepted to at least one of her two choice nursing programs.

When the Center for Latin American and Carribean Studies began collecting donations to aid Haiti following last month’s earthquake, sorority Alpha Xi Delta was quick to offer support.

Jazz ensemble to perform 1st spring concert

Some of IU’s top jazz students will perform the works of notable musicians, including Dizzy Gillespie, Charles Mingus and Slide Hampton, when the David Baker Jazz Ensemble presents its opening spring semester concert. The ensemble, consisting of 20 students under the direction of renowned jazz musician David Baker, will perform at 8 p.m. today at the Musical Arts Center.

‘Vagina Monologues’ pledge to end abuse

After hearing women squeal, scream and moan about their vaginas; after listening to stories both heart-wrenching and hilarious; after chanting “cunt” over and over again; the audience stood up and pledged to work against violence toward women and girls. “The Vagina Monologues” opened to a nearly full house Friday at the IU Fine Arts Auditorium, with performances throughout Valentine’s Day weekend.
