Frustrated Hoosiers ready for Butler

The IU women's soccer team is angry and ready for redemption. After a series of frustrating ties and losses, the Hoosiers are ready to change the tide when they play host to Butler University at 7 p.m. tonight at Bill Armstrong Stadium.

The Hoosiers will attempt to win their first Big Ten title in 14 years when they travel to the University of Iowa for the Big Ten Championships. "These guys are ready, and it will be exciting to see what they can do."

Golden opportunity for Hoosiers

The Hoosiers finally could catch a break this season. After two tough road trips and two tough losses, the team returns to Bloomington to face Minnesota during Homecoming weekend. Since IU's upset over then-No. 24 Oregon, the team has been on a steady decline despite increasingly good play.

CHICAGO -- Moises Alou might not be roaming left field at Wrigley Field anymore. The Chicago Cubs declined an $11.5 million mutual option on the outfielder Thursday and will pay him a $2.5 million buyout. The Cubs also declined a $2.5 million option on second baseman Mark Grudzielanek, paying him a $250,000 buyout instead.

Voters will not simply be selecting their preferred candidates Nov. 2. Three amendments to the Indiana Constitution are also on the ballot. Unlike the candidates, who may or may not return on their policy promises (either through their own doing or otherwise), the voters' decision is the final word on these three issues. Unfortunately, many voters are unaware that these amendments are even on the ballot, and still others are befuddled by their potentially complex wording.

War kills as many as 100,000 Iraqis in 18 months
