Most people imagine their resumes on an 8.5-by-11-inch piece of white paper. But for telecommunications graduate Jace Freeman, it's a Web site -- an idea that became the basis for his new business, Digital-Resume.

IU graduate student playwright creates "Reel" success

The glitzy world of Hollywood came to life in the world premiere of "Reel," which opened Friday at the Wells-Metz Theatre. Written by IU graduate student Paul Shoulberg and produced by the Department of Theatre and Drama, "Reel" is a play that provides a behind-the-scenes look at the search for love on a Hollywood film set.

Students stage final project today

As he searches for that identity, he is also searching for a group of players he can count on. Earl Calloway, Rod Wilmont and A.J. Ratliff sat on IU's bench for much of the second half during the Hoosiers' 54-51 loss to Duke University Tuesday night. Certainly, you'd expect at least some combination of these three to see the floor during crunch time in such a tough nonconference affair. So was IU coach Kelvin Sampson sending a message to the trio? "Oh, there was a message," Sampson said Thursday afternoon.

Myers gets 65 years for Behrman murder

MARTINSVILLE -- John R. Myers II received 65 years in prison Friday, the maximum sentence, for the 2000 murder of IU sophomore Jill Behrman. His ankles and wrists chained, Myers remained emotionless during the all-day sentencing, even when Jill Behrman's parents Marilyn and Eric Behrman took the stand to read personal statements to the court. "Every single day, many times each day, I am forced to think about the fact that my daughter Jill was brutally murdered, execution-style, in a remote, overgrown area in rural Morgan County," said Marilyn Behrman, her voice strong as she read aloud her written statement. "My strong, beautiful, responsible, intelligent daughter Jill was unable to defend herself against Mr. Myers that day." Jill Behrman vanished during a morning bike ride May 31, 2000. Her bicycle was found two days later in a cornfield outside Ellettsville, less than a mile from the trailer where Myers was living at the time. Hunters found her skeletal remains in March 2003 near Paragon, Ind. Forensic evidence showed Jill Behrman was shot in the back of the head at close range with a shotgun.

Mock funeral procession marks India disaster anniversary

Holding a body-shaped shroud on their shoulders, graduate student Giri Krishnan and IU researcher Suresh Marru followed a seven-person funeral procession down Indiana Avenue as the procession's leader slowly banged out a funeral cadence with a pot and spoon. The rest of the group carried posters depicting deformed children and other grisly images.

Newspaper carrier's van reported stolen at IMU

A man delivering newspapers to the Indiana Memorial Union early Thursday morning reported his vehicle stolen after he returned to find his van missing, said IU Police Department Sgt. Andy Stephenson.

Wine-tasting benefit nets $2,700 for Riley Hospital

Amid dim lights and soft jazz at Tutto Bene, more than 200 people gathered to sample wine and, in turn, benefit Riley Hospital for Children of Indianapolis. The inaugural wine-tasting event held Thursday night was co-sponsored by the collegiate honor society, Mortar Board and IU Student Association Student Rights to raise money to buy toys for the patients at Riley.

Cold '19 Party' draws 1,600 prospective greek women

If the IU Health Center sees a surge in cases of the flu next week, it might look to this year's "19 Party." About 1,600 women spent most of the weekend trekking between IU's 19 different sorority houses in freezing weather for the first stage of women's recruitment.
