Committee begins the search for new provost

Fred Cate, an IU law school professor, will chair a search and screen committee appointed by Interim Provost and IU President-elect Michael McRobbie tasked to review and select candidates for the new position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for the Bloomington campus.

LA police to review use of force

A day of mostly calm immigration rallies around the nation ended with a clash in Los Angeles, where officers fired rubber bullets and used batons against demonstrators. The police chief said officers may have used inappropriate force and promised a review.

Warning sirens to speak during Friday’s testing

IU Police Department Sgt. Craig Munroe’s voice won’t be any different than it usually is. But on Friday, it will be heard all over Bloomington. “It’s just like talking on the radio,” he said. “It does not intimidate me in the least. Right when I click that microphone it might. Hopefully all goes well.”

After all the finals, group projects and term papers have been turned in, Saturday’s commencement ceremony will mark the end of an era for thousands of IU students. “I’m a little nervous because it’s a new step in my life and I won’t be around all of the people I know,” senior Angela Li said.

Come Saturday, most seniors will be walking the stage and going out to expensive dinners with their parents – but not all of them. A few will instead be running the baseline and swinging for the fences. Friday commences IU baseball’s series against Iowa in Iowa City.

Singing Hoosiers graduates look back on past 4 years

On Sunday, 70 members of the Singing Hoosiers will head east for a big, fat Greek trip. While many of its members look forward to the excitement that comes with an overseas excursion, for a few members it marks a final, bittersweet farewell to the group.

SoFA seniors to present their art at BA show tonight

After a combined total of more than 400 hours spent in the studios, 20 Bachelor of Fine Arts students will showcase their work at the Senior BA show from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the School of Fine Arts Gallery. The pieces are varied and come from every artistic field. The gallery is filled with abstract ceramics, various canvases filled with vibrant paintings and digital media exhibits.
