IU-Tube Follies

As a new marketing ploy, IU recently created a series of videos titled “Hello, My Name Is Indiana University” and broadcast them over YouTube. These videos, which feature real IU students, are an attempt to “put a face on the University” and attract potential students in a new way.

Nick’s landmark to remain visible

·

The Nick’s English Hut sign on the east side of the building looked lost this week behind the scaffolding and construction of the new building next door. Tartan Realty Group is erecting a three-story apartment and retail building on the old Jiffy Treat property, located at 425 E. Kirkwood Ave., directly next to Nick’s.

Hoosiers go on ‘discovery trip,’ open fall season at Wake Forest tourney

·

After about a week of practices, the IU women’s tennis team is gearing up for its first fall tournament, the Wake Forest Invitational, which will take place this weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C. While this tournament will not determine team rankings, it will eventually influence individual rankings at the end of the season. More importantly, it will allow coaches to get a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of this year’s Hoosier squad, which features four freshmen. “It’s a get-your-feet-wet tournament,” IU coach Lin Loring said.

Except for the obvious phallic jokes about the title, 'Woodcock' sucks.

'Mr. Woodcock' awfully limp

·

Maybe fans of Thornton will enjoy this movie solely by seeing him play a character that fits him so well. If that's the case, just wait for the DVD.

The album of recovery

·

Even If It Kills Me is a beautifully personal album that is not only the best release of the Motion City Soundtrack's career but also the best album in the pop-punk scene this year.
