Instead of handling the outburst in a proper social manner, the Democrats have actually “formally rebuked” Wilson for his statement during the address. This rare resolution was voted on 240-179 generally along party lines as a way to discipline Wilson for what he said. This is the first time in the 220-year history of the House that this kind of disciplinary action has been introduced.

An ignorant trend

We are entitled to our own opinions, but we need to respect and understand that many people hold opposing views – and that is OK. It’s part of what makes us American. Shouting out “Liar!” as our President addresses the nation isn’t getting us anywhere. Similarly, me reacting to an upsetting article that spewed out ignorant generalizations wouldn’t be very productive.

Eli Lilly and Company announced Monday that it will cut $1 billion from its expenses by the end of 2011 in an effort to accelerate production and deliver medicine to patients faster.

Melvin Simon, co-owner of the Indiana Pacers, co-founder and chairman emeritus of the Simon Property Group that owns Campus Mall and major philanthropist to IU, died Wednesday morning at the age of 82.

NCAA president and former IU president Myles Brand died Wednesday. Brand, 67, had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He died in his home in Indianapolis.

Cyclist invade Avenida Paulista

Last Friday, the bicycle-enthusiast and activist group Bicicletada took to the streets of Sao Paulo in order to spread awareness and support of bicycle use in the city, or as Bicicletada participant Paulo Jabardo put it, “To show that we are traffic, too.”
