IU 'Bridge' relates to audiences

At 8 p.m., the lights in the Musical Arts Center dimmed, and the chatter of the audience quieted for world-renowned conductor Constantine Kitsopoulos. Kitsopoulos took a bow and, with his third reunion with the IU Opera & Ballet Theater, marked the opening act of the operatic rendition of Arthur Miller’s “A View from the Bridge.”

The IU Jazz Ensemble performed its fourth concert of the fall semester Monday in the Musical Arts Center. Their performance, lead by director David Baker, featured works by composers Nat Adderley, Benny Golson, Bill Holman and Dizzy Gillespie.

At IU, 18 percent of the student body chooses to go greek, according to the Interfraternity Council. One of the points the greek system boasts during rush is help with networking, which can lead to job opportunities.

121 law schools to be on campus for fair

Today’s Law Day in Alumni Hall at the Indiana Memorial Union will be the largest event of its kind in the nation for the seventh straight year. Law Day is a fair for students interested in attending law school to receive information, said Mac Francis, director of IU Health Professions and Prelaw Center.

SHINE raises money, awarenes for world hunger

The 30 Hour Famine is typically a nationwide event organized by Christian group World Vision International. Participants fast, or go without food, for 30 hours to raise funds and awareness for world hunger.
