James Brown, 25, likely did not expect his girlfriend, Olivia McKenzie, 18, would attack him and several others after he decided to break up with her.
James Brown’s sister-in-law, Shannon Brown, 31, called police to request an ambulance just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Bloomington Police Department Lt. Bill Parker said.
James Brown attempted to break up with McKenzie, who is currently carrying his child, at his home in the 3100 block of South Walnut Street Pike.
McKenzie responded by allegedly attempting to strangle James Brown and struck him, Parker said.
Other family members present attempted to subdue her, and McKenzie allegedly turned on them, Parker said.
McKenzie allegedly attacked her father, Jerry McKenzie, 49, and Shannon Brown by kicking, shoving and pulling their hair, Parker said.
Police found McKenzie in the 100 block of Kennedy Court. She was arrested for strangulation, domestic battery and misdemeanor battery.
