Michael Steele speaks at IU about political claustrophobia

During his lecture Tuesday night in Alumni Hall of the Indiana Memorial Union, Steele compared the laundry list of challenges facing the 2012 candidates to a cluttered closet. He said that just like small objects build up in a dark closet, so too have issues long ignored in today’s political discourse built up.

IUSA election 2012 kicks off

Tuesday marked the first day of IU Student Association elections. Movement for IUSA set up at three polling locations around campus to educate students about IUSA and encourage them to vote despite the absence of other competing tickets.

Exhibit shares GLBT history through T-shirts

Shirts of all kinds, from colorful and funny to dark and somber, dot rooms of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Student Support Services Office. Senior Eric Gonzaba, outreach coordinator for the GLBT office, created an exhibit titled “Wearing History — An Exhibit on LGBT History Through T-shirts,” which features 16 shirts related to LGBT history from the past 30 years.

An ever-changing lineup for IU baseball

Youth, and the decision for junior second baseman Micah Johnson to undergo surgery, has caused IU Coach Tracy Smith to shuffle his lineup. The Hoosiers lead the Big Ten in errors committed with 61. However, Smith said he played the lineup Saturday that gave his team the best chance to win. There was a small change in the lineup for Sunday’s game, as redshirt freshman Tim O’Conner replaced fellow redshirt freshman Will Nolden at right field.

Allergies might hit hard this season

The warm weather and mild winter this year might make for a rougher-than-usual allergy season this spring, according to weatherchannel.com  and Barbara Moss, a health educator at the IU Health Center.
