The weeds gripped mercilessly at the 100-year-old stones sitting deep in a tangled mass of trees. The Kirkwood Observatory, built in 1900 and dedicated in May 1901, contains six rooms, including the wooden circular dome. It boasts two telescopes: a 12-inch refractor telescope and a solar telescope.

Sahara Mart to open second location on Bloomington’s eastside

The owner of Sahara Mart, an organic grocery store that boasts the state’s largest selection of chocolate, will open a second location by Christmas if all goes well. The newest addition to Javad Noori’s “organic food, gourmet and international” grocery stores will be located at 611 E. Third St.

5-month-old abandoned twice on Sunday night

LaPORTE, Ind. – A baby was abandoned twice in one night- first by her mother, who left the child with a man who gave her a ride, and then by the man and his wife, who left the baby at a hospital, police said.
