Indiana football landed two 2027 recruits over the weekend, as three-star cornerback Rico Jackson and four-star offensive lineman Mason McDermott committed to the program, per X posts from both players.

Jackson, a Gaithersburg, Maryland, native, is ranked as the No. 80 safety and the No. 25 player in Maryland, per 247Sports. He projects as a cornerback at the collegiate level. McDermott, a Noblesville, Indiana, native, is rated as the 27th-best offensive tackle and No. 5 player in Indiana, per 247Sports’ composite rankings

The Hoosiers first offered Jackson on April 10, and his commitment comes during an official visit to Bloomington this weekend. The 5-foot-11 cornerback chose the Hoosiers over Wisconsin, the University of Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech, per Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett

“I’m beyond blessed,” Jackson wrote on X. “Thank you for everyone who gave me an opportunity and believed in me. Hoosier nation let’s work!”

Indiana offered McDermott last summer. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound offensive tackle announced his commitment during an official visit to Bloomington. McDermott chose Indiana over UCLA, Northwestern and the University of Missouri. He scheduled official visits to each of these schools.

Jackson and McDermott join four other 2027 commits: safety Garyon Hobbs, offensive lineman Jeremiah Jones, quarterback Jameson Purcell and athlete Monsanna Torbert Jr.
