After a wild week seven where heaps of points were scored, let’s take a look back and see who scored them.\nWould you be surprised to see that the Houston Texans have scored the fifth most points in the NFL this season? Would it blow your mind to know that the St. Louis Rams– a preseason darling – are dead last in points per game and are 16.5 points per game behind the Cleveland Browns, a preseason NFL laughing stock?\nA major conflict in fantasy football is determining how to value a certain position on an offense. For example, should you play New York Jets starting running back Thomas Jones, who has scored 52 points for the NFL’s 16th-ranked scoring offense? Or should you start Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes, who has caught four touchdowns and racked up 339 yards this season for the No. 8-ranked scoring offense thus far?\nI am in favor of putting players in your starting lineup that have the best chance of getting in the end zone. I don’t care so much about touches, because you don’t get points for catches or carries. Give me a guy that gets five touches on an offense that scores 30 points a week rather than a guy that gets 25 touches on an offense that scores 13. \nYou can have Shaun Alexander and his 19 carries for 47 yards, and I’ll take Houston Texans wide receiver Kevin Walter, who has more than 100 less touches this season and has slightly fewer yards than Alexander and only one less touchdown. If you take risks like that in fantasy football, you will be rewarded.
Week seven studs\nRob Bironas, kicker, Tennessee Titans – Some might argue that Bironas has stepped into the category of elite fantasy kickers, which is erroneous, because no such thing exists. But Bironas was more than impressive, breaking the all-time field goal record for a single game and scoring 26 fantasy points.\nKenny Watson, running back, Cincinnati Bengals – In comeback fashion, Watson carried the Bengals with 130 yards rushing and three touchdowns. This speed back might be just what Cincinnati ordered to compliment Rudi Johnson’s power. Make sure he is on your team.
Four on the wire\nJesse Chatman, running back, Miami Dolphins – Ronnie Brown is out for the season and was leading all running backs in fantasy points before he went down. Many believed coach Cam Cameron favored Chatman at the beginning of the season. Now he gets his chance to prove himself the rest of the way. Look for Chatman to fill in where Brown left off.\nKevin Jones, running back, Detroit Lions – Jones has three touchdowns this season, and his role should continue to expand with the role of Tatum Bell dwindling in Motown.\nKevin Walter, wide receiver, Houston Texans – Walter has 435 receiving yards and a touchdown to date. As the Texans offense continues to excel, look for Walter to gain at least 1,000 yards this season.\nIndianapolis Colts defense– In case you missed it, the Colts are tied for fifth in total touchdowns against and first in passing yards against. With the Carolina Panthers and geriatric quarterback Vinny Testaverde next on the slate, give the Colts defense a play.
