Volleyball swept by ranked foes over weekend

With the second half of Big Ten play under way, the IU volleyball team fell for the second time this season to both No. 15 Wisconsin and No. 10 Minnesota.On Friday, Wisconsin came to Bloomington and knocked off IU (23-25, 25-22, 25-22, 25-19).

Hutton's widow dies at 93

Kathryn Hutton passed away early last week at the age of 93.She and her late husband, Edward Hutton, were both alumni and benefactors of IU.

Late fumble costs IU game against Minnesota

IU sophomore quarterback Nate Sudfeld threw a swing pass to sophomore running back Tevin Coleman to try to exploit a matchup against Minnesota’s man defense. Sudfeld’s pass was behind the line of scrimmage, making it a lateral.

IU (3-5, 1-3) has to win on the road against either Wisconsin (6-2, 4-1) or Ohio State (9-0, 5-0) in addition to beating Illinois (3-5, 0-4) and Purdue (1-7, 0-4) at home to become bowl eligible.

Sober tailgate program begins

The Union Board, the Office of Alternative Screening and Intervention Services, the IU Health Center and the Student Alumni Association co-sponsored a sober tailgate to offer students free food, drinks, games and prizes before the IU football homecoming game on Saturday.

The Riley Hospital for Children patients gathered for Riley at the Rock, an event organized by IU Athletics and IU Dance Marathon. The event, which is in its sixth year, took place during IU’s Homecoming football game against Minnesota.

MCCSC releases spring test scores

Monroe County Community School Corporation released Spring 2013’s test scores in its fall newsletter, showing its ISTEP, SAT, ACT and Advance Placement scores are all above the state averages.
