IU student is 'the biggest loser'

·

In her thin fingers, Susan Eley holds up a snapshot of herself in college, taken just before she filled an auditorium with her dramatic soprano voice. Her large body was draped in a crimson gown and a powdered beehive wig sat atop her head. She points the image toward her husband, Ben, and asks if he would have noticed her then.

Hoosier tennis teams set for grueling weekend

·

The popular Internet song, "Peanut Butter Jelly Time," which features a dancing, rapping banana seems like a distracting tune for a tennis match. But not for No. 3 singles player Brianna Williams and the rest of IU's women's tennis team.

Hoosier wrestlers prepare for two top 10 opponents

·

As the IU wrestling team enters its practice facility everyday, a quote on the wall stares down at them, reminding the members of the need to work hard. "Unless you have prepared and deserve to emerge victorious, do not expect to win or be disappointed when you lose," the saying reads.

Family Matters

·

Redshirt freshman Andrae Hernandez has been a reliable starter for the IU wrestling team in the 133-pound division this season, jumping out to a 21-5 record, including a 9-2 record in dual competition. His backup, freshman Angel Escobedo, is a familiar face to him.

Best idea since ...

·

Www.SinceSlicedBread.com recently held an innovative competition. The Web site claims its project "is a national call for fresh, commonsense ideas. A call for ideas that will strengthen our economy and improve the day-to-day lives of working men and women and their families."

Internet + dating = lame

·

I was thinking the other day about where exactly I get my dating advice. In the early days my parents were there for me, explaining why it was a bad idea to breakup with someone through an Instant Message, and I still have my friends to give me (mostly) solid advice. But I think it might be time to call in the experts. I've decided on eHarmony (www.eHarmony.com).

One hell of a drink

·

As a columnist I always need to be on the lookout for the next social injustice to espouse in my hopelessly ineffectual 500 words. This week's en vogue topics include Supreme Court nominations, Fourth Amendment violations and coal mine collapsations, but all that had to take a back seat to another more pressing matter.
