Red Solo cups waving through the air, it’s not just jungle juice that drives scene – it’s the bands that emerge from the underground.Prizzy Prizzy Please and Push-Pull are two of the B-town bands that went from the Statehouse (a popular basement venue) to the Bluebird and then throughout the Midwest, spreading this college town’s nerd-electro-dance-rock gospel.

This movie is nothing more than a vehicle for Chace Crawford's hotness.

Horror for ’tweens fails again

Where those movies fell, “Zach and Miri” stands strong– for those with the stomach to handle it.

When you read this, you will hopefully know who the next president of the United States will be, because that will mean everything went smoothly and there was no shadiness in 2008 as there was in Florida in 2000 and in Ohio in 2004. Of course, that poses a big problem for people like me who are getting paid (mostly) to talk about it. You see, as I’m writing this column, it’s Monday morning, but I know nobody will see this until press time Wednesday. I can’t talk about what’s going to happen, because you already know. I can’t talk about what happened, because I don’t know. And I sure as hell can’t talk about anything other than the election.

Sarah Palin's future has been on many pundits’ minds. Some have suggested she host a talk show. Others have suggested that she run in 2012 if McCain loses or if he only wants to serve one term. We small town, “pro-America” folk should have known better than to listen to those elite media liberals trying to tell us what our hero Sarah Palin might do. As a matter of fact, Palin’s happy to tell us about her career aspirations herself. She wants to go hunting with Nicolas Sarkozy, president of France.

Today we live in an Age of Envy.” – Ayn Rand As of the writing of this column, it’s not yet known whether Americans chose as our next president the liberal quasi-socialist with little executive experience or his Democratic opponent, who’s even worse. But it really doesn’t matter, because either way, we’ve got a lot of work to do if we want to spend the rest of our lives knowing the freedom and prosperity we experienced growing up. We must devote precious time and energy we normally would’ve spent pursuing our own dreams fighting for the very right to pursue these dreams at all.

Separation anxiety ’08

As is the standard protocol here on the IDS opinion page, I’m turning this column in on Monday, and you are reading it on Wednesday. I don’t know the outcome of the election yet, though I am quite looking forward to making the long walk to Read – my designated polling place – and casting my first presidential election vote. At this point, I’m positive my e-mail inbox is at least half full of e-mails from Barack Obama, Joe Biden and David Plouffe. And I really have no idea how the Obama volunteers got a hold of my phone number, but I’m really glad they’ll finally stop calling me now.

Obama supporters ecstatic after lengthy campaign

CHICAGO – Believe. For a campaign based on that very slogan, some Barack Obama fans still can’t believe it. After 21 months of campaigning, they have their president. An endless sea of 125,000 jumping, screaming and singing fans gathered in Grant Park on Tuesday to witness a historic speech as Obama became the 44th president and first black president of the United States.
