It’s happened again. Homosexuality is threatening our communities. It’s being taught in schools. Lesbians and gay men are raising kids. Gays want to marry. And we’re afraid because this is America. And in America, we do what’s best for our children.

Marriage is not a country club

Earlier this month, we witnessed a historic election. Not only did we elect the first black president of the United States, but several states made important decisions related to their domestic agenda. One in particular is California’s Proposition 8, which defines marriage as being only between a man and a woman.

TV makes me happy, not sad

Bridge Over the Wadi

On a morning like any other, Jewish children in the valley of Wadi Ara in Israel wake up, prepare for the day and travel to school. Unlike many of their peers, however, these students travel into a Muslim town. On the outskirts of Kfar Kara, atop a small hill, sits their elementary school, Bridge Over the Wadi. There they share the classroom with Muslim students.

Sexual harassment training necessary

It’s a fact of life that supervisors sometimes make their employees perform menial, pointless tasks. Whether it’s brewing another pot of coffee or putting cover sheets on reports, employees always like to say that these things waste their time. At the University of California at Irvine, a biology professor has stretched this excuse too far. Alexander McPherson, one of the leading scientists in protein research, stands to lose his tenure if he does not agree to attend sexual harassment prevention training, which is mandated by law for all public and private businesses with 50 or more employees. McPherson believes that the training session is a waste of his time and that it casts suspicion on his character. We think McPherson’s logic is backward. By not attending the sessions, he only makes himself appear to be more of a creeper, and by taking such a public stance against something so simple and straightforward, he is wasting everyone’s time.

Man arrested for threatening to cut man

A Bloomington man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly threatening to “cut up” another man, said Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Jeff Canada reading from a police report. Dale Harry Jackson, 56, faces a preliminary charge of intimidation.

Inmates crawl through ceiling to have sex, drink alcohol

Although the writer’s strike and NBC’s idiocy shortened season seven of “Scrubs,” the show still delivered laughs and legitimate character arcs where season six didn’t.

TV’s best series in a box

I could fill page after page with what’s groundbreaking, thrilling and fantastic about HBO’s legendary series “The Sopranos,” but I’ll just say it’s the best series ever to grace the television medium. The momentous Greek tragedy that is Tony Soprano’s dual life as family man and made man never once sagged during its eight years.
