A retirement ceremony was held for longtime Dean of Students Dick McKaig on Tuesday in Alumni Hall. McKaig, who will retire July 31, is wrapping up a 38-year career at IU.

Local cafe owner remembers own identity transition

Rachael Jones, owner of Rachael’s Cafe on Third Street, has come a long way from not having a four-way stop in rural Beanblossom, Ind. Part of that transition has come from being more comfortable in her own skin as a transgendered individual, as well as ridding herself of her own prejudices.

Tuition rates remain undecided

The Indiana General Assembly’s indecisiveness to create a state budget has caused IU’s tuition rates to remain a mystery. After a revenue forecast Wednesday, Indiana will have $1 billion less in its budget, meaning budget cuts will occur.

Even though not all food being served had been grown locally, more than 60 people were crowded into the Upland Brewing Company’s banquet facility room for the May meeting of Green Drinks Bloomington, a group focused on strengthening local food networks.
