A retirement ceremony was held for longtime Dean of Students Dick McKaig on Tuesday in Alumni Hall. McKaig, who will retire July 31, is wrapping up a 38-year career at IU.
The ceremony began with an introduction from Mayor Mark Kruzan, and was followed by musical performances and speeches by colleagues, friends and family members. McKaig was presented with several awards, including the Provost's Medal and a small replica of the Herman B Wells statue that is located in the Old Crescent.
It concluded with a speech from McKaig, in which he thanked his family, friends and coworkers, saying he couldn't have done it without them.
