Belton Vigil

Professor murdered, mourned

The murder surfaced 10 a.m. Dec. 28, when a colleague found IU assistant English professor Don Belton dead, face down on the kitchen floor in his home. She had tried calling him the night before, but there was no answer.

IU junior loved company of others

Jonathan Herz, an IU junior, was described as a social butterfly of the Chicago North Shore and was known to make friends with basically everyone he met. Herz died Dec. 17 from a self-inflicted injury at his residence in Smallwood Plaza.

Mel Simon's daughter contests father's will

Deborah Simon filed a will contest Thursday in Hamilton County Superior Court. She claims her father, Mel Simon, couldn’t sign a new agreement himself.

IUPUI alumnus sets rap record

On Dec. 19, IU-Purdue University Indianapolis alumnus Matthew Markoff, better known on hip-hop billboards as rapper M-Eighty, raised more than $10,000 to build a new educational facility for underprivileged students in Bodo, Nigeria.
