Locals compete in a ‘Battle of the genres’

When bands battle, it’s all about the energy and connection with the audience — or at least that was one factor that helped land punk group Medusa in first place Tuesday. It was just one segment of an extensive Battle of the Bands put on by Spirit of ’68 Promotions and hosted by the Bluebird Nightclub. The Bluebird Nightclub is hosting a Battle of the Bands running through August. The first place winner will receive a $2000 cash prize.

Little 500 packs week in April with events

Now going into its 61st year, the Little 500 race is the biggest college bike race in the world. Thousands of visitors pour into Bloomington to be a part of the weekend. The inspiration came in 1950 when Howdy Wilcox watched four students race bikes around a dormitory. Now, the Little 500 race has now become the largest intramural event at IU.

All-clear issued for IMU gas leak

Entrances to the Indiana Memorial Union are reopening after a gas leak  was discovered near the building. Pathways leading from Seventh Street to the IMU were blocked off Wednesday morning after Campus Division construction workers struck an unmarked gas main.
