By a narrow 7-6 vote, the policy committee of the Bloomington/Monroe County Metropolitan Planning Organization agreed to include construction of Interstate 69 to Indiana 37 in their Transportation Improvement Program.

John Mayer cancels tour due to throat condition

John Mayer announced today he has canceled his tour, and performing live indefinitely, due to the return of a granuloma in his throat. Mayer was treated for the same condition in 2011. Refunds for all tickets will be processed Friday, March 9, and should post in five days.

Drive sober or get pulled over campaign increases arrests

Police officers will be looking for impaired or aggressive motorists during March’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. Individuals with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher will be prosecuted. The crackdown is part of a greater strategy to lower the number of driving fatalities.

Nine miles away from a disaster relief site, the pungent smell of gasoline mixed with smoke from chainsaws permeates the town of Henryville, Ind. The stench is one of the remnants of the tornado that devastated the area only one week ago.
