Column: MTV: A Confidence Booster?

I have a confession to make. Whenever I feel down, I usually do one or more of the following: 1. Eat junk food. 2. Sing along to 90s pop hits. 3. Turn on MTV. The first two of my vices are relatively normal, but allow me to explain the third.

Tempers flared as Purdue (44-12) scored the winning run Saturday in the top of the ninth on a Dustin DeMuth throwing error to win the Big Ten Tournament and beat Indiana (32-28) 6-5 in a back-and-forth contest.

Basil's heroics sets up Tourney rematch with Purdue

It took eleven innings for Indiana to defeat Michigan State for the second time in the Big Ten Tournament and advance to the championship round. Both wins were the result of late inning hits by shortstop Michael Basil.Indiana battles rival Purdue in championship round Saturday night. An IU win will force a final game on Sunday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Purdue starter Lance Breedlove (8-5) did not allow a runner to reach third base until the eighth inning. He held Indiana’s offense in check and lead the No. 18 Boilermakers to a 3-0 win Friday in game eight of the Big Ten Tournament.

Late rally sets up Big Ten Tourney date with rival Purdue

Despite spotting the Michigan State Spartans (36-20, 13-12 in conference) an early 3-0 lead, Indiana (31-26, 17-8 in conference) battled back with a four run eighth inning to stay in the winners’ bracket of the Big Ten Conference Tournament.IU will take on bitter in-state rival and top-seeded Purdue (43-12, 18-7 in conference) at 7:05 pm. Friday. The Boilers beat Ohio State 5-4 Thursday.

Last week, Stagnant Pools officially signed with Polyvinyl Records (Of Montreal, Deerhoof), just days after Bryan (guitar, vocals) graduated from IU with a double major in English and film studies and Doug (drums) finished his sophomore year here studying philosophy.

Late-season surge propels Hoosiers into Big Ten Tournament as two-seed

The Hoosiers (30-26, 16-8) steamroll into the Big Ten Tournament as the two-seed and the hottest team in the Big Ten. IU heads into the tournament having won six straight games, 12 of its last 15 games overall, 10 of its last 12 conference games and its last four conference series. After a first-round bye, IU will open action against game two winner Michigan State (36-19, 14-11 in conference) in game three. First pitch is 3:35 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at Huntington Park in Columbus, Ohio.

Indiana sued for marriage law

The American Civil Liberties Union is suing the State of Indiana because of its marriage law, which currently allows only religious leaders or state officials to make a marriage legal. The suit is on behalf of the Center for Inquiry, a secular organization.

This is a hipster trick

It’s so simple. I’m pretty sure they did this in an episode of “South Park.” All we have to do is get everyone to start riding their bikes everywhere. This is the Achilles’ Heel of the hipster disposition. Once a certain level of popularity for something is achieved, those rebellious youth will deny it was ever cool.
