'Plucky' harpist has won competitions worldwide

Fourteen-year-old Jane Yoon strode confidently across the stage at the 2001 USA International Harp Competition in her yellow silk dress. She was not competing; however, she was a guest performer. The previous year she won the Japanese International Harp Competition in Tokyo, making her the youngest participant and the only Korean to win. She had also begun her studies under Susann MacDonald at IU.

'Four Square' displays angles of graphic design

Each square is made up of four sides. The four professors of graphic design in IU's Hope School of Fine Arts have collaborated in a new exhibit entitled "Four Square" that will have its opening reception 7-9 p.m. tomorrow at the SoFA gallery.

Ben Folds tickets on sale tomorrow WHEN: 10 a.m. Friday WHERE: IU Auditorium box office and all Ticketmaster locations MORE INFORMATION: Tickets cost $25 for IUB students and $35 for non-students. IUB students may charge tickets to their bursar account if purchased at the IU Auditorium box office. Student ticket holders will be required to show a valid IUB student ID when entering this event. Ben Folds will play at 8 p.m., Nov. 9 at the IU Auditorium.

Discounted art museum gifts on sale this week

The IU Art Museum is not only for fine arts majors. In addition to the three main galleries that the museum features, this week the art museum will pull triple duty as it coordinates two sales aimed at all students.

Auditorium to hold training session for student ushers

With approximately 800 volunteers in its ranks, the IU Auditorium relies on students and community members to supply its corps of ushers, who not only supervise crowd control but are also encouraged to make a connection with guests on the relatively short journey from the entrance to their seats, according to the IU Auditorium's Web site.

SoFA gallery hosts 'refreshing' evening

From a guitar autographed by members of the band Wilco to a large painting of four nudes in a kitchen, the pieces the SoFA gallery and the Friends of Art sold at the Refresh benefit gala and auction Friday night were as eclectic as the crowd that purchased them.

Ben Folds to come to IU Auditorium

The Union Board concerts committee will host Ben Folds in concert 8 p.m. Nov. 9 at the IU Auditorium, according to a news release from Union Board.
