House intelligence bill subject of contention

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans are using legislation implementing the Sept. 11 Commission's recommendations as a Christmas tree for unrelated partisan proposals, Democrats charged Wednesday as House committees began wading through the GOP bill. The disputed proposals would increase police powers and implement new anti-immigration measures such as denying immigrants certain court appeals and allowing more people to be arrested on accusations of supporting a terrorist group.

But All Sorts of Trouble for the Boy in the Bubble, back again this year to keep people in stitches, will be performing at the Bloomington Playwrights Project every other Saturday for $5 a head. And don't plan on coming in the door at the last minute because the first show of the year last Saturday was completely packed.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with On-Demand TV, it is a service provided by digital cable that allows one to watch TV shows and movies anytime one wants. Not only that, but it can be paused, rewound and so forth. Typically, the On-Demand service is attached to premium channels' packages, in my case HBO and Starz.

County councilman files lawsuit

On the two-year anniversary of Monroe County Councilman Scott Wells' arrest by the Indiana State Police, David Colman, Wells' lawyer, filed a lawsuit on his behalf. Wells filed the lawsuit because he believes his civil rights were violated.
