'Songs' don't save 'Silverman'

·

Let's get something straight right out of the gate: I love Ben Folds' music and have ever since I discovered Whatever and Ever Amen and its hit single "Brick" back in 1997.

Order returns with elevator music

·

It's relieving, I guess, that New Order hasn't taken the drastic departures that other 25-years-and-counting bands like U2 or Duran Duran have taken.

The Boss exorcizes his demons

·

Smack in the middle of his two biggest commercial triumphs, 1975's Born to Run and 1984's Born in the U.S.A., Bruce Springsteen released his single finest (and yet somehow most obscure) record.

Case closed, leave it alone

In 2000, the trustees met in two groups of four to determine the status of Bob Knight's employment at IU. With a successful effort to avoid breaking Indiana's Open Door Law, which states that board meetings must have at least 48 hours advance notice to the public and have a majority of the board members present, the trustees voted to have Knight fired and were seconded by then IU president Myles Brand.

·

Just when I thought action moviemaking couldn't get any lamer than the Vin Diesel vehicle "xXx" along comes "xXx: State of the Union."

Black out 'blue laws'

·

A few weeks after my 21st birthday, I thought it'd be nice to serve a bottle of wine with the Italian dinner I had intended to make that evening for some friends.

Time bill makes no sense

·

I applaud the Indiana legislature. It seems like they are one of the few states that actually passed legislation this year. However, I am amazed that this bill was deemed "heroic" by Brian Bosma, the Speaker of the House.

To the remaining, b-ware

·

Who said all the fun leaves Bloomington once the vast majority of the students do? Summer in Bloomington offers a tranquil alternative to the hustle and bustle 37,000-plus students bring during the fall and spring semesters. The streets which penetrate campus open up like clogged arteries following angioplasty.
