Assembly Hall will be replaced; no timetable set

The IU board of trustees reached an agreement Thursday to replace Assembly Hall at some point in the future. But exactly when that new facility, estimated by HOK Sports, a Kansas City-based architecture firm, to cost between $130 and $160 million, could be built is anyone’s guess, because IU currently lacks the funding to construct it.

Stephen Jackson ordered to do community service

Last Wednesday, former Indiana Pacer and current Golden State Warrior Stephen Jackson pleaded guilty to a felony count of criminal recklessness and was assigned to 100 hours of community service. Jackson will fulfill his community service hours at a local community center called the Christamore House just west of downtown Indianapolis.

Four members of the IU women’s track and field team competed in USA Track and Field Championships over the weekend in Indianapolis. Senior Jessica Gall competed in the 10,000 meter run Thursday, finishing with a time of 35:26.91 to finish in 19th place. Also on Thursday, freshman Rachel Ehret ran unattached in the 3,000 meter event, finishing 10th in the junior race with a time of 10:23.00

Because I hail from the (not so) great state of New Jersey, I have been genetically modified to bleed New York Yankees and distastefully hate every other baseball team in Major League Baseball. After hearing the Yankees received funding to build a new stadium, I was not only angry but baffled.
