Director James Spooner showed and discussed his film “Afro-Punk” on Friday to an audience of approximately 60 people.“The film explores race and identity within the black punk rock scene,” said Mary Huelsbeck, archivist and head of public and technology services.

Lennie’s celebrates 20th birthday by donating to local charities

Starting Monday, Lennie’s is celebrating its 20th birthday, but instead of receiving presents, the restaurant is the one giving gifts.All of the sales made during the birthday celebration, today through Wednesday, will be donated to local charity organizations around Bloomington.

Currently, Bloomington does not count IU Campus Bus Service’s more than 3 million passenger trips in state and federal government funding formulas, and thus state and federal public transit grants to Bloomington are solely based on BT ridership and operating results. Additional state and federal funding for public transit in Bloomington would have several benefits for both IU students and the entire Bloomington community.

Campus bus service adds Sunday night routes

The Campus Bus Services will run routes A, B and E until about 10 p.m. on Sundays starting today. Buses run every 30 minutes, according to an IU press release.

IU wins season opener at Memphis

A team with three new starters was down by five points with two minutes left in their season opener on the road. Rather than panicking or folding the Hoosiers finished the game on a 10-1 run and pulled out a 78-74 win against Memphis at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn.

The Hoosiers struggled offensively in the early moments, but broke opened a 38-11 run they rode to a win in the first regular season game on Friday against Howard.

iPhone conference to touch on developer tools

University Information Technology Services and Apple will have an iPhone conference geared toward demonstrating some of Apple’s developer tools from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union.
