High court gives prime minister's legal team time to look at evidence

KIEV, Ukraine -- Ukraine's Supreme Court gave the prime minister's legal team until Tuesday to study evidence of fraud presented by the opposition in last week's presidential election, while outgoing President Leonid Kuchma endorsed the idea of a new vote "to preserve peace" in the bitterly divided former Soviet republic.

NBC executive survives plane crash

MONTROSE, Colo. -- NBC Sports chairman Dick Ebersol and his college-age son emerged from the wreckage of a chartered jet after the plane crashed, but authorities said Monday his 14-year-old son was presumed dead in the wreckage.

Angelic voices kick off Christmas

Famed Chicago painter dies at 65

CHICAGO -- Painter Ed Paschke, one of Chicago's best-known artists of the past half century, has died at age 65. Paschke died in his sleep on Thanksgiving at the home he shared with his daughter, Sharon, who said heart problems ran in the family and that physicians had noted a murmur in her father's heart.

IU opens regular season against No. 8 Baylor

Defense leads IU to Classic championship

While most students were away for the Thanksgiving holiday, IU played host to the Hampton Inn Classic. The Hoosiers advanced to the championship game of the event by defeating Belmont University 56-26, Saturday night. Scoring wasn't a popular item Sunday afternoon when IU battled Central Michigan University for the championship game, as both teams were plagued with shooting difficulties.

Freshman duo deliver Hoosier victory

Slated to resurrect a struggling program, IU freshmen Robert Vaden and D.J. White went right to work Saturday in their second game as Hoosiers. Vaden and White saved the Hoosiers from a potentially embarrassing loss by scoring 16 of IU's last 17 points to defeat Western Illinois 64-60 Saturday at Assembly Hall.

Hoosiers drop final 2 matches of season

Despite the record setting play of two departing seniors, the IU women's volleyball team dropped its last two matches of the season this weekend. Friday, the team started the weekend by losing a heartbreaker to Northwestern 3-2.

While most of the IU student body feasted on food during the Thanksgiving break, the No. 2-seeded IU men's soccer team stayed in Bloomington and gobbled up Wolverines and Eagles. The Hoosiers defeated Michigan Tuesday, 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament and Boston College Sunday, 1-0.

Students look at moving abroad in light of election

"The thought of immigration crossed my mind because I was embarrassed by our country's choice of leader and didn't want to be associated with the 53 million dumb people," said Adrienne Carroll, a senior biology major applying to a graduate school in England.
