40 IU students sued for downloads

Last April, sophomore David Lota received an e-mail from the Recording Industry Association of America stating he was being sued for copyright infringement, and he later had to pay $4,000 for illegally downloading music.

Not much to gain, plenty to lose Sunday

IU looked like it got a bit of its fight back in its final home game of the season. Maybe its surge late in the second half of Wednesday’s game was a sign that this team still believes it is playing for something greater than itself. Or maybe it just wanted to give Adam Ahlfeld a chance to double his career scoring average on Senior Night. Whatever the motivation, the Hoosiers need to carry that incentive into Sunday’s regular season finale at Penn State if they want to enter the postseason with any kind of momentum.

IU alumnus introduces new file-storing Web site

While on sabbatical in Spain to figure out what he wanted to do with his life, IU alumnus Stefan Surzycki realized what he really wanted was to be able to access his computer files from anywhere. It was then that he came up with the idea of Jooce.com, a free Web-based service that allows users to store files and is accessible from any computer.

More Americans than ever behind bars

One in every 100 Americans is now living behind bars, according to a report released Feb. 28 by the Pew Center on the States. While figures for the state of Indiana are largely below the national average, growing incarceration rates have had no small impact on the Hoosier state.
