The news junky’s superhero

·

The topic of Anderson Cooper, the anchor of CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360,” always evokes the words “hot” or “gay” (even though the latter has little-to-no evidence of being true).

The breast of the bad

·

Australia, I get it. You are known in history as a penal colony where the Europeans dropped off their refuse like a lazy trash collector. It’s not so bad.

Expect a tight contest between IU, Northwestern

Efficiency key for IU against solid Northwestern team

·

This IU team sometimes has spells where its speed-up style becomes rushing and mistakes begin to pile up.   But the Hoosiers will have to stay focused on their trip to Northwestern. The Wildcat team IU will face at 2:30 Sunday in Evanston, Ill., shoots 36 percent from the 3-point line and only turns the ball over 11 times per game.

Who's got the edge?

·

This year’s matchup was all about the offenses, but the ankle injury to the Colts’ Dwight Freeney has spiced up the defensive talk. Rarely do you have two of the same type of one-dimensional teams contending for the confetti shower.

Colts-Saints game really a win-win

·

It’s the first time since 1993 that two No. 1 seeds are playing in the season’s final game, but the circumstances for both teams make that stat seem minor. In a sense, this year’s matchup cannot go wrong with either team dancing in the confetti at the end of Sunday’s game. In an age where image is a liability to the NFL, this is one championship weekend where the league cannot go wrong with its winner.

IU loses another heartbreaker to Purdue

·

All signs pointed to a win: a halftime lead, an aggressive defense and a strong offense. But as a prayer shot clanked off and the buzzer rang, the Hoosiers lost to their in-state rival Purdue, 78-75.
