The journey of actress Glenn Close’s costume collection coming to the Eskenazi Museum of Art has been eight years in the making. But on May 6, the exhibit will finally open, highlighting pieces from the collection of more than 800 costumes Close gave to IU.

Having a day off every once in a while from classes can be nice if you manage your time well. Thursday’s Wellness Day is the final one IU is giving students this semester, so if you can manage to find some time off between doing homework and studying for finals, try to make the most of it. And, if you can, find breaks to take a breather during the last week of classes and finals week as well. Even if it’s something simple, there are ways you can enjoy yourself.

The Lotus Education & Arts Foundation will put on its annual Lotus Blossoms event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 10. The day will be filled with visual art, music, crafts, performances and educational activities. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the format of the event has shifted and most of it will take place virtually.

I’m not opposed to high school teachers assigning classic books. I support that. But when it comes to connecting with teenagers, I wish my teachers had done a better job of mixing in contemporary books. I had to find and read these books on my own, but I wish they were taught in the classroom. Students have potential to learn more about themselves and others by reading these novels instead of reading classics all the time.

Over the past few years I've struggled to understand why people why people obsess over the holiday season. I only recently have really begun to think about my side of it, though — rather than figure out why everyone counts down the days to this time of year, I wanted to figure out why I wasn’t so infatuated with it.
